Help us tell the Province to deliver on widening St. Clair at Old Weston Road
St. Clair and Old Weston Road doesn’t work. It doesn’t work for drivers who are forced into one lane under the rail line. It doesn’t work for cyclists who have no safe route to use. It doesn’t work for pedestrians who are squeezed onto a narrow sidewalk, dodging bikes and e-scooters. We need to fix the bottleneck.
When the St. Clair streetcar right-of-way was built back in 2010, a lane of traffic was removed between Old Weston and Keele. To avoid the resulting bottleneck, we had a transportation plan to fix it. When the Province of Ontario and Metrolinx took over the project, widening the road to solve the congestion was part of that plan.
That widening was supposed to happen years ago, but it never did. Now we’re asking the Province to make good on their promise and finally fix St. Clair.
